Shalom,
I have a question.
As a convert, I’ve wondered what was my role in regards to the people that I left?
Should I try to bring some “light unto the nation”? I have tried to do as much but feel really burned out and tired at hearing so much anti-Israel and down right blantant anti semitism on their part.
Any guidance?
Thanks.

Rabbi Tropper Responds:
Thanks for question.
There is no halachic obligation for a Jew to bring ‘Light unto the nations’ and try to have non Jews convert or even to change their belief.
We should be a ‘light unto the nations’ by example not by preaching. It also doesn’t work as one philosopher writes “your actions speak so loud, I cannot hear what you are saying.”
Many Poskim have the position that Christianity is not Avoda zora for a non Jew. It is a subject of dispute. The great gaon Rav Yechezkel Landau,zt’l also known as the Noda Beyehuda prohibits Christianity even for a non Jew as it is Avoda Zora. Many other poskim including the Gaon of Lemburg known as The Shoel Umaishiv and others maintain the position that it is not prohibited for a non Jew to be a Christian.
However, even if it is Avoda Zora, there is no halachic obligation to try to convince them to change their belief.
